Shred stream (UDP)
Shreds are the pieces a leader breaks each block into as it produces it. Receiving them is the earliest view of what is landing on chain: before the block exists, and before any processed update on a gRPC stream. Slipstream pushes them to your server over UDP as they arrive; there is nothing to connect to and no filter.
Getting them#
- Run a UDP receiver on a server with a public address. The tx-receiver SDK binds the socket and hands you each payload.
- In the dashboard, open Shreds and set the receiver's public IP address and port. A change takes effect on new streams.
- Start the one-hour trial on the same page, or subscribe to Shreds from Pricing.
What arrives#
- One payload per datagram, up to the Solana MTU of 1,232 bytes.
- In arrival order, which is not slot order, and unfiltered: everything we receive is sent on.
- Over UDP, so nothing is retried. A receiver that falls behind loses datagrams in the kernel before it sees them; OS tuning shows how to tell and what to raise.
Allow inbound UDP to the receiver's port on the server's firewall.
